4. Keeping it Reel.
Brand Collaboration / Campaign
A campaign by Kodak and Instagram looking at social media from a new angle, putting an end to false standards online.
Henry Gadsdon / 2022
Keeping it Reel aims to get its users to look at the bigger picture, and not just cropping in on what they think is considered perfect or “Instagram-worthy”.
For inclusivity, the campaign will utilise and celebrate the ‘reelist’ of those who take part, and we’ll use their posts in our advertising to make our tone of voice as genuine as possible.
Users entering competitions to be used in our posters will be able to win Kodak products, as well as Keeping it Reel merchandise.
By encouraging our users to go out, capture and share unpredictable truths, we’re celebrating the honesty of the imperfect – and not being too precious of how Instagram posts will turn out.
To get people involved and interested in the campaign, we’ve developed the KANDID Camera: A digital camera that emulates the sentiments and aesthetics of the classic Kodak Film Camera.
You can’t see how the photos turn out until you’ve uploaded them to Instagram via Bluetooth, showing the unpredictable side of photo-sharing that we’re encouraging our users to embrace.
